What happened today
- The founding conversation. Noah spent part of the day in a long ChatGPT conversation
(41 user turns, 48 assistant turns, ~16,200 lines transcribed) that started as a game
idea — a Kenshi-like open sandbox in a fictional black-powder-era borderlands — and
ended somewhere more interesting: a design for a synthetic game studio. One human
CEO, a team of named synthetic directors, nightly autonomous builds, a permanent
archive, and the whole thing run in public. The full transcript is captured in
docs/source-conversations/, append-only, because the documentation is the product.> Forward reference, added 2026-08-31. Nothing above this line was changed. > "Nightly autonomous builds" is what the founding conversation designed. On 2026-08-15 > Noah ruled it out and required every night to be started by hand > (
docs/decisions/2026-08-15-nightly-cycles-manual-start.md). On 2026-08-31 he > reversed that. A timer starts the night, Noah decides each morning what it builds, and the > public claim is "AI-operated. I decide; it works" (docs/decisions/2026-08-31-nightly-autonomy.md). The founding > design was right and the sixteen days in between were the detour. - The three business objectives were set (Noah, to Claude, this afternoon): profitable by month 6 counting Noah's time at €100/h; no more than 5 hours/week of Noah's time; and building Noah's reputation as someone who can CEO an AI-first company by running teams of AIs in simple, token-conservative ways.
- The specs were built. Claude (Fable 5, running in Claude Code) processed the full
transcript and wrote the founding spec set in
docs/specs/: business plan, game spec, studio spec, outreach spec, tooling spec, and a roadmap with a batched decision queue for Noah. Every claim in those specs carries a provenance tag — what Noah actually decided, what ChatGPT proposed and was never ratified, and what's still open. That distinction is the spine of the whole method: the AI must never quietly promote its own suggestions to decisions. - The ledger started.
ledger/now tracks Noah's hours, cash spend, and (eventually) revenue. Objective 1 is unverifiable without it, so it starts on day zero.
How the work was actually done (the part people pay to see)
The 16,239-line transcript was too large to hold in one AI context window, so Claude fanned it out to four parallel reader agents, each extracting structured notes (decisions, monetization ideas, studio architecture, open questions) from a ~4,100-line slice. The four extractions consumed ~397,000 tokens of subagent work and ran in about 3.5 minutes of wall-clock time, in parallel. The main session then synthesized the six spec documents from those notes. No metered API cost — this ran inside an existing Claude subscription; the token figure is still recorded because resource transparency is part of the product.
Human time today: the founding conversation itself (Noah logs that separately), plus about ten minutes to state the objectives and hand over the transcript. The intent going forward: Noah supplies judgment; the machine supplies labor.
Decisions taken today
- The archive/journal starts now, before the first line of game code — so the eventual public record has no gap at the beginning.
- Specs are organized as: business plan → game → studio → outreach → tooling → roadmap.
- Everything Noah must decide is batched into one Decision Queue
(
docs/specs/50-roadmap.md) instead of trickling questions at him.
Open at end of day
The Decision Queue: game/studio name and domain, account handles, launch pricing posture, nightly compute source, whether to ever run the two-AI benchmark, engine confirmation, and the first public artifact. Once the name exists, this project goes public.
